Q4 2015 Release Notes
These notes provide pertinent information regarding the additions to CA Agile Central On-Demand during the second quarter of 2015. Features continually released between October 12th, 2015 and January 15th, 2016 are included. Hardware and software requirements, compatibility, and known issues for the CA Agile Central Enterprise and Unlimited Editions during this time period are also provided.
What’s new in Q4
For CA Agile Central Enterprise and Unlimited customers:
A new look for Rally
Rally SaaS users will see a new company logo and product name for our agile management platform.
Now a member of the CA Technologies family, our new identity will reflect Rally as an integral part of the larger, end-to-end ecosystem of CA software and services.
While our name and logo are different, our commitment to you remains the same: to build an agile management platform you are proud to use.
New languages available in Help
Our 25 most popular help pages have been translated into the following languages:
Select the Languages drop-down on the right side of the page for your desired language.
We will be translating more of our content in the near future, so look for more pages with the Languages drop-down menu.
Beta Team Planning page
CA Agile Central has created a new Team Planning page, which is available from the current Plan → Plan.
The Team Planning page provides the following improvements:
- Switch between Backlog, Planning, and Planned views.
- Linkage with the higher-level plan with the ability to see the lowest-level Portfolio Item (Feature) for context when planning.
- Backlog filters to quickly access different types of work when planning.
- Clear notification when you have planned too much work.
- Indication when work items in the plan do not have estimates.
- An updated user interface with inline editing.
Beta Capacity Planning
Capacity planning facilitates the events leading up to big room planning. Create what-if scenarios and plans inside CA Agile Central without changing artifacts and execution data for teams and projects. From the Portfolio menu, select Capacity Planning.
Work Item Connector APIKey Support
Single-Sign On Work Item connector users can now authenticate using APIKeys rather than Basic Authentication. Additionally, credentials used for Work Item Connectors are now encrypted as opposed to simply encoded. These new features improve security and simplify the use of APIKeys with your entire CA Agile Central Subscription.
Beta multi-value custom fields
Subscription and workspace administrators can now create multi-value custom fields for users. These fields are configured in the Field editor pop-up window after you select Drop Down List (Multi Value) as the type of field.
Once configured by an admin, the multi-value drop-down list will be available on the same pages that can contain custom fields, which includes:
- Detail pages
- New advanced search component
Beta Watch notifications
Watches provide you with a way to monitor a user story, feature, or other work item. When you watch an artifact, you'll receive email notifications after other users make changes or updates. Access the Watches Summary Page from your settings menu to manage your watches, and add other users to an existing watch.
Rich-text field templates
We've upgraded rich-text fields in editable detail pages with the ability to create and save personal templates. Now you can quickly save and recall content for repetitive entries such as acceptance criteria, checklists, and other forms.
Tags field can no longer be set to Required
To be consistent with other similar fields, we have disabled the ability to set Tags as a Required field. This was a known defect - previously you could set the field to Required but it was not enforced.
Once this change is implemented, the Tags field will no longer be set to Required in your subscription, and you will not have the ability to set it to Required.
CA Agile Central’s beta programs get you involved with improving effectiveness and usability of new features before they are released. If you would like to participate, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Changes to the SOAP, REST, & JSON Web Service API
Web Services API deprecation policy
In order to support developer toolkits, custom apps, and queries more effectively, we are introducing a formal deprecation policy to the Web Services API. With the new policy, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to support older versions of the WSAPI for one year after a new version is released.
The current version of the WSAPI, 2.0, is fully supported. Its one year deprecation period will begin on the date that the next version is released. You may review the full deprecation policy in the CA Agile Central Web Services API documentation.
Hardware and software requirements
We at CA Agile Central are committed to making our software easily accessible. You can access CA Agile Central wherever you have an Internet connection via a PC, Linux, or Macintosh computer. Because this software is available through the World Wide Web, many of the constraints regarding which computer and software you use to access this material have been removed.
Nevertheless, it is not possible or practical for us to support every operating system and browser combination that is available. To take advantage of the newest CA Agile Central features, we recommend that you use one of the following fully supported browsers:
- Internet Explorer*
We support the two latest versions of each of these browsers. We do not recommend using development, test, or beta versions of these web browsers. Versions that are not publicly released may not work properly with the CA Agile Central application. In particular we strongly suggest using Chrome.
* Internet Explorer Currently, we support Internet Explorer 11, Internet Explorer 10, and Internet Explorer 9. CA Agile Central does not support Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8.
- Minimum Adobe Reader 5.0 Microsoft Windows platforms (not Linux)
- Adobe Reader 7.0 or higher recommended
- Minimum 1024 X 768 X 256-color video resolution, 1280 x 1024 recommended.
Known issues in Q4
Not all work items may be recovered from the Recycle Bin
Only user stories, portfolio items, defects, test cases, milestones and tasks are recoverable from the Recycle Bin.
Popup blockers and CA Agile Central
Be aware that some of CA Agile Central’s content is displayed using popup windows. Popup blockers may inhibit this functionality. To correct this, configure your popup blockers to allow CA Agile Central popups.
Salesforce.com Integration: Create defect function does not instantly respond
The create defect function found in Salesforce does not immediately provide feedback from the associated CA Agile Central subscription. This may result in the inadvertent creation of multiple defects. Click the button only once to avoid this issue.
Pasting formatted text from MS Word may result in error
Copy-pasting rich-format text into a work item editor from Microsoft Word may result in formatting or system errors. To work around this issue, compose directly in the CA Agile Central work item editors, or convert your entry to plain text before pasting.
